What a 40HQ really holds: packing pendants for export

Carton size decides your landed cost more than unit price does. How we design packing around the container.

Containers stacked at the port

A 40-foot high-cube container has about 76 m³ inside, but no one ships 76 m³ of pendants in it. Cartons must stay upright, can only be stacked as high as their board allows, and rarely divide evenly into 1,203 × 235 × 269 cm. The difference between a good and a bad carton can be thirty percent of the container.

We design the carton around the box

When we develop a new pendant, we test three or four carton sizes against the three standard containers before we tool the insert. Every product page on this site shows the result: how many cartons and pieces fit a 20GP, a 40GP and a 40HQ, and a 3D load plan you can play with.

Nesting

The biggest saving is nesting: shades that sit inside one another, fittings in a separate box. Our copper dome ships two sets to a near-square carton; the cage lamps nest twelve to one.
