Choosing colour temperature and CRI for hotel projects

Why we steer hospitality projects to 2700 K and CRI 90, and when 2200 K is the better choice.

Guests notice skin tones and food before they notice fixtures. Below CRI 90, reds (R9) fall off and faces look grey; that is why every hospitality product we make is CRI 90 or above.

Colour temperature

2700 K suits most rooms and lobbies. 2200 K — the amber of our filament lamps — is right for bars and restaurants at night, but can make a daytime lobby feel dim. We supply both from the same fixtures and can mix them on one DALI circuit.
